Bey shah was born in 1976, given the title Bey Shah and nicknamed "Mr. Perfection" by his breeders, Lester
and Jennie Walton, the colt would live to surpass everyone's most optimistic expectations. When Bey Shah was a yearling, California car dealer George Dexter talked the Waltons into selling him a half interest in this
extraordinary youngster who would forever after own a large piece of Dexter's heart. It was George's belief in Bey Shah that underwrote the young horse's rise to fame in both the show ring and the breeding barn.Following the passing of her husband, Jenny Walton agreed to sell George her half of Bey Shah. When the big horse was at the height of his game, it became necessary for Dexter to part with him. At that
point, a partnership comprised of a manager of rock stars, Mark and Beverly White, and Doug Leadley took possession of Bey Shah. Soon he was resold to Canadian entrepreneur George Forest. Just over a year later, David
Boggs brought long time horse enthusiasts Dan and Maureen Grossman to the table, and Bey Shah moved to the home that would be his for the last nine years of his life. Barbara Rosado would eventually partner with the
Grossmans in ownership of Bey Shah. Then just under two years ago, horsewoman and breeder Michele Pfeifer would sign on for the final act. Though his owners are certainly important, it wouldn't be fair to exclude
those who were closest to the superstar -- his caretakers, the people who loved him the most. In that fraternity was Alan Moore, Julie Saxleby, Stacy Gnegy Johnson, Ray Walker, and Jenny Sheehan. In the January, 2000
issue of The Arabian Horse Times, Bey Shah will be featured in "Horses and Heroes." Look for stories in that feature from the people who knew Bey Shah best and the folks whose lives were forever changed by
him. |
